An obese Australian kookaburra has been sent to a "bird gym".
The rare bird had been fed sausages during his stay at a park in Sydney, but needed medical attention after he gained 1lb in weight and was too heavy to fly.
The feathered creature was then taken to Sydney's Taronga Zoo by a resident who spotted the kookaburra being chased along the ground by dogs.
Gemma Watkinson, the zoo's wildlife nurse has since given the bird a personal trainer and a new diet to get it fighting fit again.
She said: "The kookaburra's been down at the rehabilitation aviary for a couple of weeks on a special 'lite n'easy' diet designed by our bird keeper. We've fitted the temporary home out like a 'bird gym' ".
